Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu visited Southern Lebanon on Tuesday, according to a post by the official Facebook handle of the leader. Netanyahu specifically visited Lebanese territory occupied by Israeli military.
Netanyahu made the visit along with Defence Minister Israel Katz and Deputy Chief of the General Staff Major General Tamir Yadai.
During the visit, the prime minister held conversations with Israeli soldiers in the area. Netanyahu stated that Israel will not retreat from Lebanon as long as Hezbollah is present there, posing a threat to Israel.
"And as long as Hezbollah is armed and present here, posing a threat to us – we will remain here.", he said.

The visit is the first after Israel and Lebanon signed a US-brokered agreement to end hostilities.
Israel invaded parts of Lebanon after Hezbollah fired missiles into Israel on March 2 in response to the US-Israel-Iran war that started on February 28. Iran has repeatedly maintained a cessation of fighting in Lebanon as a pre-requisite for lasting peace in West Asia.
